Executive Women's Council provides leadership and leadership opportunities for
executive and professional women to increase their political and economic power.
The Executive Women's Council, Greater Pittsburgh, Inc. (EWC), was founded in 1975
by a group of women who held responsible positions within local industry, education,
government, private institutions and the professions.
EWC was created to provide enrichment, support and a source of collective influence
for executive and professional women in Pittsburgh.
Today, EWC continues to encourage women to take a leadership role in their profession
and in the community. EWC strives to promote the awareness of women in positions
of authority and two years ago launched a Woman of Achievement Award. The inaugural
recipient was State Senator Jane Clare Orie. Other recipients have included Ann Dugan,
Director of the Small Business Development Center, Katz Graduate School of Business,
University of Pittsburgh, and Audrey Brourman, owner of A.L. Brourman + Associates, a
full-service firm offering a wide variety of services and expertise in marketing,
fund-raising and institutional advancement.
The 2004 award winner was Audrey Brourman, owner of
A. L. Brourman + Associates, Inc., a Pittsburgh-based full service firm
offering a wide variety of professional services and expertise in marketing, fund
raising, and institutional advancement.
A nominee for the Woman of Achievement must meet all of the following criteria:

Provides leadership opportunities for women in the workplace, community, or in professional
organizations

Acts as a resource or mentor to professional women
-
Demonstrates excellence in profession and is successful both financially and in
reputation
-
A Woman of Achievement nominee cannot have served on the Executive Women's Council
Board of the Directors in the last three years.
Only EWC members are able to nominate. Nominees do not have to be members of EWC.
